Create an Open Cloud API key

Generate a key Roblox will accept for DataStore access.

  1. 1Open Creator Dashboard → Credentials → API Keys and click “Create API Key”.
  2. 2Name it after its purpose, e.g. “DataBridge — Obby migration”.
  3. 3Under Access Permissions choose “Data Stores”, then select each experience the key may touch.
  4. 4Add the operations listed in Permissions (read for source, plus write for destination).
  5. 5Leave “Accepted IP addresses” empty or enter 0.0.0.0/0 — DataBridge workers don’t have a fixed IP.
  6. 6Optionally set an expiration date, save, and copy the key.

Expiry and rotation

Roblox automatically expires keys that are not used or updated for 60 days. When a key expires or you rotate it, create a new key and use “Replace key” on the connection — existing DataStore configs keep working.

Deleting a connection in DataBridge does not revoke the key in Roblox. Revoke it in Creator Dashboard if it is no longer needed.
